We should all clamour for an OPEN government, one that citizens will understand the cost of GOVERNANCE and the way and manner our TAXES are being utilised. We have for long ignored the system, allowing looters to see government as a hub of stealing.
The government of the day should instill trust on the people by instigating the State House of Assembly, in signing the FOI bill. Citizen need understand cost of various projects to ascertain none was inflated. If such is done, it will check mate Budget padding, monitoring of constituency funds and projects, low cases of FRAUDS. Most commendable infrastructures done by this present administration have no definite figures that was presented to the public. Cases like that encourages massive looting and also inflated budgets.
An open government will encourage constructive criticism that will also increase the engagement between the governed and the government. It will also get leaders to work, improve their stance to what the people want. Developed countries in the world got to where they are for allowing citizens their rights to question, inquire and also raise suggestions in the act of governance.
Finally, this should be a wake up call to our leaders to get things right. Allow citizens the HUGE benefit to question what went in for any project, its duration and also parties involved.
